Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada Institute of Socio-Economic Research and National Integration – SRT Research Institute is a non profit Organization registered under Public Trust Act.
The institute was originally founded at Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, by great National leaders Ex-Prime-Minister P.V.Narsimha Rao, former Home Minister Shankarraojee Chavan, Shri. Nijlingappa, Padma Vibhushan Govindbhai Shroff, and several other veteran leaders and freedom fighters.
The institute was established in memory of Swami Ramanand Teerth who was an politico spiritual leader of the freedom struggle in the old State of Hyderabad. Devoted his career for this Region.
1) To undertake action oriented research in humanist thought and Socio-economic development.
2) To work towards Human development.
3) To promote Antar Bharati program and National Integration.
To perpetuate the memory of the leader, philosopher and guide of the Hyderabad Freedom Struggle, Honorable Swami Ramanand Teerth, his colleague and close associates from the three states namely Maharashtra, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh established “Swami Ramanand Teerth Institute of Socio-economic Research and National Integration” to serve all the three regions of the erstwhile Hyderabad State.
The institution believes; basic socio-economic changes and development people’s participation is necessary for sustainable development. Academic research is important but institution has emphasis on Action Oriented Research.
Swami Ramanand Teerth Memorial Committee is situated in Hyderabad having three branches in Marathwada, Telengana and Karnataka, The common binding factor in all this region is backwardness and post independence saga of neglect. All the three institutions are autonomous and independent having common historical background and emotional attachment.
The institution began its functioning at Aurangabad in 1972 under the guidance and leadership of Padmavibhushan Govindbhai Shroff.
Architects of the institution
Late Govindbhai Shroff was the main architect in the growth and development of the institution at Aurangabad. Shri.N.V.Deshpande, a senior freedom fighter was main architect in the construction of the present office premises of the institution. Shri.Bhujangrao Kulkarni an eminent administrator, founder member, educationist and a very versatile personality worked as president of the institution offer the demise of Govindbhai Shroff.
He was founder president and Shri.N.V.Deshpande worked as founder Secretary of the institution.
